Campaign to preserve the carnegie libraries

staten island branches

St. George branch

Staten Island’s four Carnegie branches are all still operating libraries. The group was designed by Carrere & Hastings. A large two-and-one-half story addition was added to the St. George Branch in 1952, but the other three branches retain the original style of a one-story, Classical Revival structure with a central projecting entry bay. Two of the branches are New York City Individual Landmarks, Port Richmond and Tottenville.
